iMac user showing as 'Unidentified' in user reports

Hi All,

I am currently in the process of setting up a new Sophos XG firewall. When checking the users in the 'Reports' tab, our iMac users are showing as 'Unidentified' whereas the windows users are showing the correct username. Is there a way of having the report show the Mac usernames?

Many Thanks

  • Unidentified User are simply user, that are not Logged into XG with any kind of Authentication. You could call them "IPs". Because they are not authenticated right now.

So basically your Windows Client will use some sort of STAS or something like that (Live User).

And Mac does not do that. So you have to find another way to work with User Mapping.

XG uses a IP to User Name Mapping.

So if you log into XG, XG will map the IP to a User name and all you have to do (in case of firewalling) is to simply use the Username instead of the IP.
