XG L2TP VPN file transfer Mac Problem

Having an issue with L2TP VPN file transfer. Mac connected to a Mac server over VPN L2TP, copying files in the Finder (SMB) will error after 250mb to 500mb consistently. The VPN is using the Default L2TP profile. I have modified the default to remove compression and tried tweaking a few other things but no real difference. The XG is a 125 and I have tried this with 2 separate units with 2 separate environments (separate networks, servers etc). The customer and I both get the the issue. On the client side we are using the built-in Mac L2TP connection network setting. Anyone have any ideas? And yes, latest firmware.

I would request you to create WAN to LAN firewall rule for SMB service for TCP and UDP port 445 and position the rule on Top and do not apply "Masquerade" and verify.

Thanks for the suggestion, however that is opening the SMB port to the world, which is not desired. We should be able to use SMB after connection is made via VPN.
