Integrating Sophos home premium with XG home edition

Can i integrate my Sophos home premium version endpoint clients with their heartbeat visible on my Sophos XG home version. Is the console of  Sophos home premium similar to  Sophos Central Cloud version.

  • Hi,

a very good question that I had not considered since upgrading my Sophos home to the premium version. Does the premium home have heartbeat? I did not see any indications on the control panel.

  • If you willing to invest I bought a commercial xg for home, it was about 400.00 US, I got the XG85W which has wifi built in.  When you consider a good wifi router is around 150 to 200 it really was not to much of a swing to go commercial.  Plus it helps alot with work an such.

  • Hi Badrobot,

I think an XG85W is too underpowered for me and would run out of memory. The new XG86 or XG106 might be a better investment. Currently run 50% peaking at 60% of a 6gb ram system.

Being retired I no longer require amy equipment to experiment on for work.

As well I have 4 APs of which two are in use, they were primarily for my sons networks when they left home. They ended up going for the ISP's toys because their games would work.

    Thank you for the suggestion.

  • Hi rfcat_vk,

I was concerned with the unit being under powered as well, but it is just me and my finance so for the most part (other than waiting an extra second or two in admin for a page load) it has been pretty good.  I can understand the gaming thing, it took me awhile to get an x-box to work.  But I don't play much so who knows it might not even work now lol. I have even thought about getting a AP myself given the range on the XG 85W is limited, well that and I don't think it would look right if I hung it on the center of my living room ceiling.  I hope you are enjoying retirement and want to take a minute to thank you for still taking the time to help us noobs along the way!  I have learned quite alot over the last year or so from your posts here on the forum.

  • Hi Dane,

Thank you. I know this answer is slightly off topic, but never mind.

There are two of us at home besides the cats and some nearly 30 network devices which grows with new IoT stuff. The AP55c sites on top of the speaker box onto of the TV cabinet, not too obvious. I thought about placing the %%c neat the smoke detector, but would have to run cables through the ceiling and thought better of it.

I had to install another one to ensure consistent connection to the solar power inverter, that is in the room with the networking stuff near the solar power inverter. The manufacturers of the inverter downgraded the output power for all countries which caused grief for a lot of people.
