Where is V18 at?

Hi,

this request for an update on progress is for those of us that do not have access top partners/resllers.

Would some-one in the know who is allowed to provide progress on v18 please add to this thread.

I am not after guesses or conjecture, but real timelines (give or take a month).

Ian

  • At least for versions 17 it looks the same as in the current firewall management of Sophos Central. So I don't think it's a mockup. I wouldn't even know why Sophos would create a mockup because v18 is not relevant for the new Sophos Central features, as "The minimum firmware versions required for these features are 17.5 MR3 for basic management and zero-touch deployment, and MR7 for backup and firmware management."

  • Because normal format for XG is v18.0.2 mr-2

Unless Sophos have moved away from calling them MRs?

  • Hi,

    Latest news from Sophos:

    "Targeted Timeline

The team is targeting to kick off the Early Access Program (EAP) for all Sophos customers and partners later this month. We will announce the availability here on Sophos News when everything is ready. To provide everyone with a fantastic EAP experience, the team is working hard to ensure the features in the initial EAP release are rock solid, so we appreciate your patience.

The XG Firewall v18 Early Access Program will have multiple phases over the coming months with some features, noted in the What’s New Overview, delivered as part of later EAP phases.

We hope you are as excited about this new XG Firewall release as we are. Thanks for your ongoing support."

    Regards
    Jan

  • With all these delays they should just skip the v18 name and call it v19.

  • As this is a complete re-write of the underlying architecture - might bet better for them to call is Sophos XG Pro V1

  • I don't know about you guys, but personally I can't wait for this one:

    Bring it on, Sophos :)

  • I've got my eyes on updated MIB's and this nugget:

    High Availability (HA) Enhancements

New enhancements enable plug-and-play high availability deployments with greater flexibility and business redundancy. A preconfigured HA port on every device enables quick and easy HA deployments by simply connecting the two ports together and then acknowledging and activating HA.

HA configurations also include a configurable failback strategy, ideal for remote-site HA deployments, with options for manual synchronization and time out tuning. It is now possible to perform firmware updates, rollbacks, and other tasks such as port monitoring lists and assigning multiple IP addresses to primary and auxiliary appliances while HA is active. In addition, deploying more than one HA pair in a single network is easier due to the elimination of conflicts arising from any dependency on a virtual MAC address HA architecture.

    Thanks,

    John
