Red50 multiple wan and XG

I'd like to know if the following UTM KB https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/118916 would apply the same for XG or if there is one similar .

Is it possible to connect a RED 15/50 which has 2 ISP to one XG with One ISP and load balance the traffic ?

thanks

  • Does this note still apply ?

Balancing: Select to activate active load balancing between both hostnames. Use this feature when the external interfaces that the 1st and 2nd hostnames refer to, have the same latency and throughput.

Or the two uplinks can be of different throughput or latency ?

  • Can be used, if they are different.

Just a notice. We are using Round Robin Connection Pinning.

So basically RED will use for Connection 1, WAN 1. Connection 2, WAN 2, Connection 3 WAN1, Connection 4, WAN2.

And this connection will stay "For ever" on this connection.

Most likely, if you are "unlucky", you will get 2 large file transfers on the the same WAN connection, and the other could idle.

That is the mechanism behind this.

And if you have a fast WAN1 and a slow WAN2, your File transfer can be stick to the slow connection.
