Sophos XG310 the master is not taking over after reboot

Hello,

 

I have two Sophos XG active/passive , both are working fine and I can rech always the Auxiliary using the management IP. After I reboot the master , the Auxiliary is taking over successfully. My question is what is default behaviour? shouldnt the Master taking over again or the Auxiliary will remain working as Master ? is there prefered or preempt master option to keep one of the Firewalls always the master ?

    As far as i know, this is the wanted behavior in HA. 

    Is there a reason for keeping "node 1 always master"? 

    I know some administrator, which "bump" the Master / Slave on the hardware to keep track, but i am not quite sure, how this will help in any case.

    You can easily track the appliance via LCD keys, who is master and who is slave.

    Hello,

    Thanks for your comment. I'm looking for official technical resources that describe the default behaviour and if there is preempt option can be activated through CLI. I'm working on different migration projects between different platforms and knowing all technical details is important for me.

    Are you a Sophos Partner?

    Then you should invest some time in the Sophos XG Architect - There you will get some more detail overview of HA.

    Thanks for your comment. But that is not answering my question. I already read the provided articles and learned how to build active /passive and active/active scenarios...

    My question is related to preferred master option that is available in other platforms from other manufacturers.

    In the Sophos XG documentation there is no mention to this feature.

    If you know how to do that I will appreciate that. If this feature is not available in XG it is also Ok!

    All what I'm looking for is to know.

    Preferred Master is currently not in the product.
