Decrypt and Scan HTTPS - APPS

Hi,

We are a school who require pupils to install the Sophos cert before they are allowed access to the internet.

For some reason the APPS on their devices didn't like the scan and decrypt option. The cert is 100% installed but apps refused to work. I can open a browser and browse and watch videos on YouTube fine but opening the app and trying doesn't show any videos or thumbnails. As soon as I disable the https scanning it works.

I would like this on for obvious reasons, if its disabled does it still do the application blocking? I did see X-vpn blocked in the reports but the pupil was told to uninstall it.

Its on a separate VLAN if that has anything to do with it.

It does seem to affect a lot of apps, snapchat etc.. the web works and I can see the cert is installed and decrypting and logging.

This make sense?

  • Hi,

there are a number of threads in the forums on this subject and I think a KBA as well. I suggest you do a search because the threads have details of exceptions you need to create and if you wish to block VPNs and tunnels etc there are also some very recent threads with details.
