Content filtering not working on XG

Hi, I am running Sophos XG Home SFOS 17.5.5 MR-5

First question: Can you run clientless users on devices such as iPads and have them content filter?

Now my issue:

I am trying to create a web filtering policy to keep my children safe.

As you can see, sexually explicit / adult is blocked

This is the rule (ID9) the user in question is "dan" the others are clientless users and forms part of my first question.

Once again Rule ID 9

Here's user dan visiting sexually explicit websites and its allowed

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

  • Hi,

you can use clientless users for iPhones in fact any device. You also need to assign them a fixed address in your DHCP server.

Next you will need a firewall for each group of clienteles users for policies to be applied.

You will also need to use application policies.

I have what you requested working on my XG.

  • Hi Ian, thanks for your reply.

I have set the device up with a static IP, assigned a clientless user and added them to match users in firewall but no web filtering occurs. You say application policies, would you mind sending me a screenshot of a policy which would block something such as an adult site as I didn't think application policies could be used in that way?

    Thanks
