is it possible to reenable an Aux HA device after only disabling the Aux?

So I recently setup a HA active passive environment but there appeared to be a problem in the config so I wrongly assumed i could just disable the Auxilarty device and then be able to log back into the web ui and resetup the Passive Aux HA settings.  I didnt know that I would be greeted with the activate licence screen again on the Aux device, so now I cant activate the device as it only has the admin port and HA link ports active (not that having the WAN port active would help as its PPPOE failover situation so it would interfear with the Master device) so what i need to know is there a way to reenable the Aux HA device without needing to contact the licencing server??  I have SSH access and ive not gone any further than the licencing screen i.e. not rebooted yet?

Otherwise Ill have to get someone at the office on monday to hook up a spare port to the LAN switch to try activating via that if it will even work that is??  This does seem a bit of a strange situation to be in especially in disabling just the Aux HA device only leaves the DMZ and LAN ports active so how should this situation work???

Thanks to any replies in advance.

  • If you disable the HA, the slave appliance will go in a reserve status with only Admin LAN IP enabled (without configuration).

Still, there should be the license (base license) applied on the Slave appliance.

Sometimes, the Aux appliance was not properly configured in the first place, so the aux appliance was lacking the base license at all. But you are able to build up a working HA without a base license on aux. This construct will only screw up, if you stop the HA.

  • I definatley registered a base serial the first time round then the serial was changed to a H licence rather than a normal C licence, but ive tried using both serials again but its still trying to contact the licencing server.  Should i reboot the Aux HA??  If i now disable HA on the master will that also lose its licence or should that stay as is config wise??  Im thinking i may be able to use the HA link ports as a temp uplnk just to activate the Aux device again??

This is the screen i now get when logging into the Aux Device ui: -

But ive also got the AA option via console so it must of completely lost its serial???

What is an option to reactivate and then reconfigure remotely without needing more ports than the LAN, WAN and DMZ ports???  (would the temp uplink via the DMZ ports work?  Im just worried if i now disable the Master HA device im going to lose that too..

    Thanks

  • So i was able to recover by disabling HA on the master and restarting the HA setup, thanks for your help.
