DHCP and VLANS

Hi,

I've had a new XG box installed and want to try and replicate my setup old Smoothwall setup.

I have 2 VLANS setup with DHCP scopes from the Sophos unit supposedly dishing out IPs.

My setup is

  • Port 4 setup as a LAN port with a static IP
  • I have created a new VLAN using Port 4 with an IP of 192.168.40.1
  • I've created a DHCP scope using port 4 VLAN with 192.168.40.10 to 192.168.41.240
  • On my managed switch I have tagged the port wired to port 4 and another port attached to my access point.

This is exactly the same setup as my Smoothwall was done but my clients aren't getting a lease.

Am I missing something?

I think something is working as I have created a different vlan using port 20 and I have a couple of ipads that seem to be getting IP (linked through a few different switches) but clients attached directly aren't getting anything.

Any pointers would be great.

I had to create a firewall rule for LAN (source zone) / network and sources (VLAN & internal web servers) to  LAN (source zone) / network and sources (VLAN & internal web servers).

I suppose this creates a 2 way link between each source.
