Email notifications stopped working in SFOS 17.5.5 MR-5

I've had email notifications setup in XG for years, using an external email server. Worked flawlessly last week. Upgraded to SFOS 17.5.5 MR-5 this week. Email notifications no longer work.

I double-checked every setting. When I Test Mail, I get the green "Test mail has been sent successfully." That said, I get the same "sent successfully" even when I force 'bad' settings (like a non-existent FQDN).

Again, the ONLY change between last week (notifications working) and this week (not working) was the update to SFOS 17.5.5 MR-5.

    Thoroughly informative, thank you.

    I was eager to put the "8-character password" workaround to test … but my mail provider auto-generates the SMTP password, and yes, it auto-generates VERY strong passwords. Alas, I'll sit back and wait for the proper fix in the next XG update.
