Alternative to Sophos Dynamic DNS Solution, now that it's not working

I have been using Sophos Dynamic DNS service for the longest time, since I got my Sophos XG Home working.  Now, I was told that it's under maintenance, and not available.  XG doesn't support no-ip.  Looking at other supoprted alternatives, not really sure which is free, or close to free.  Options are DynDNS, ZoneEdit, EasyDNS, DynAccess, and lastly, Sophos, which isn't working.

Anyone have ideas how to setup?  ZoneEdit still gives free Dynamic DNS service, but I don't know how to set it up to get the free DDNS.  Hope others can help.

  • So, I tried ZoneEdit, and created a free hostname, and tried the dynamic dns.  I configured the hostname to be something like xg.myfirewall.com, and entered my current IP address.  Enabled "dynamic authentication" in zoneedit.  I went back to XG, and went to select DDNS, put in my hostname of xg.myfirewall.com, selected port2 as my interface, chosen the provider zoneedit, entered my username, and used the token gotten from enabling dynamic authentication as my password.  (Saw this is the one to use as password from one of the forums).  I can see that the last update status saying success.  I configured my iphone L2TP vpn using public ip address, it is connecting.  When I change server to xg.myfirewall.com, it's not working.  What could be the problem?

  • Hi,

all sounds like DNS issues to me. What IP address do you see when you run nslookup from outside your network?
