using Xg 135 as Smart Host

Dear Forum members,

I asked this question couple of times before but no update:

Is it possible to use Sophos XG 135 as a SMART Host for an email service? If yes can you please explain a little bit, thanks

Sure.

XG can act as a smart host.

But: XG does not support SMTP Authentication. So - The sending Client has to be "fixed". You have to insert the sending Client / mail server into Hosted based Relay.

What do you try to achieve?

XG has to know the IP of the sending client to act properly as a Smarthost.

Currently i am running Xg 135 as MTA as inbound and outbound emails passing through it. so can we call it a smart host? If yes then why there is a separate settings for smart host under Xg 135?

Basically a smarthost would be something, you call as XG to give your Email to as a "Relay" in the internet.

You should take a look at some documents about MTA, Smarthost etc. to learn the differences.
