My APs (2, AP55 and AP55c) are both running with 40mhz channels on the 2.4ghz band.
The question is why does one AP use channel 11 and the other use channel 12?

Hello rfcat_vk,
If the mode of channel selection is automatic then it will check for the channel with low interference. I don't know the setup in your environment and would assume that they are in the range of each other.
For better management, always keep the channel different from each other unless they are on different floors if the RSS is low.
I am wondering about the use case of 40 Mhz 2,4 GHz? https://support.metageek.com/hc/en-us/articles/204490510-40-MHz-Channels
Hi Lucar Toni,
I had investigated a lot of similar reports on the use of 40mhz in 2.4ghz band before posting the thread and suspect there is no real benefit at least in my case because none of the devices are capable of more the 150mb/s throughput.
Channel 12 is not one of the over lapping 40mhz channel groups.

Update:- changed to 20mhz channels. At this stage no noticeable difference other than both devices are now using channel 6. They can see each other (wireless wise).
I am at this point, that i do not use 2,4 anymore.
Having APX320 with the capability to use 2x 5,0 GHz is my way to go. Currently only my Apple Watch is not able to use 2,4 GHz.
40 MHz channels on 2,4 Ghz anyway aren't recommended, as there's lot of noise (other AP's) etc. on that band. only non overlapping channels are 1 and 11. This might werork without interference somwhere on free field or a hidden isle ;o)
Use of 20Mhz in 2,4 Ghz usually guarantees most stable and performant connection in saturated enviroments.
Do I have to mention the non overlapping channels 1, 6 and 11?
Hi SaschaParis,
I have changed my APs to use 20mhz on 2.4ghz and cannot see any difference in behaviour.
I have 2 by AP55, 1 by AP55c and 1 by AP50, so going to APX320 is not really an option I could justify. The reason for so many Ads, the AP55s were to replace a failed AP10 and AP30 for my sons when they moved into new flats. They decided they didn't want UTM/XG security because their games failed too often, so I have APs to play with.
