VLAN under Red Device

Hi,

Admitting, I am new to it.

I have remote office having Red Device. Configured in XG210 (HO) as Standard/unified with IP of 192.168.18.1/24. I have created two VLAN (19 and 20 with subnets 192.168.1.19 and 20) in the remote office Layer2 switch (where Red Device connects in port 1).

What I am confused is: how to configure Head Office to reach VLAN  in remote office created in the remote switch. Apparently, as my thoughts, While I can reach Red Device so I can create some static route in my XG Firewall but as RedBox has IP from 192.168.18.x it wont be knowing about other subnets i.e. 19, 20

Am I missing something? Any advice is welcome

  • RED50 supports VLAN Tagging on RED site, RED15 does not.

So you have to configure the Switch on RED site as a Layer3 Switch.

He has to route from untagged to tagged VLAN traffic.

  • Thanks. in Red15 is there a way to assign more that one IP. I mean, I am thinking of using Red Box as gateway between two subnets, connected under the Branch switch, so it can route traffic between two subnets as gateway? Is it possible?

If not, the other option comes to my mind is: use Windows Server as L3 router (my switch does not support L3 routing, it has VLANS but not routing).

If I am to use this option 2, windows server as router.  My HO (XG 210) connected to Branch (Red) and Red(branch) has Two IPs one on the same subnet with XG, to facilitate communication and second IP from local Subnet (different VLAN) so it can route traffic from XG210 (HO) destined to branch in different Subnet under VLAN.  Is it doable or I need to find a 3rd way, if any?
