How can i get my email clients working again?

Please I am very new to the SOPHOS fire wall and I am having serious challenges with the new XG 230 firewall.

Everything used to be fine until recently, all email clients (outlook, Thunderbird, mac mail, etc) started receiving an authentication failure when they try to access our corporate email. Public mails like gmail work fine.

We had a firewall rule that allowed All the relevant email ports. I disabled that rule, the problem stopped but just for one day. Now the rule has no effect on the problem

When I bypass the fire wall, the email clients work perfectly.

We are not using an internal email service.

Can anyone help me out with this please? and if i need to provide further information
