External PPTP Server

Hi everyone!

This is kinda my last resort. I can't figure out what is causing this issue. I am currently facing one nasty issue with my XG Firewall and a external PPTP server running on Windows Server 2012 R2. We allowed traffic from our WAN to our VPN server, authentication doesn't fail and the VPN connection is being built to that PPTP server machine. We noticed that when we run a ping to that particular server that it responds for around 2 minutes and then magically fails.

I am not sure what is causing this issue. We have tried to do tcpdumps, but we aren't sure what is causing this issue.

Does one of you have an idea of what could cause this issue?

  • Hello Dimitri,

Since your windows server is a PPTP server, the connection is between the host and your server. The only thing you can check on your firewall is to check if the traffic has sufficient bandwidth on both ISPs.

Could you please check the logs on your server is there is any indication of the issue at location \windows\system32\LogFiles or event Viewer under system logs?
