Vote for: Rename/Comment Physical Interface objects feature request

UTM9 have a really useful option for renaming Network Interface object names, along with the Comment field for additional description. Example:

I've posted this suggestion on Copernicus Beta astaro.org forum immediately after the first BETA1 release. It was assigned a tracking ID number, but it was not implemented in GA.

If you also found this feature useful, please vote for it on:

  • How the hell is possible that such a simple task is taking so long to see the light?
At lease let as insert a comment.
I've got a lot of ports, VLAN and I just can't remember which VLAN is for the phones, which one is for the CCTV and so on.
    COME ON!!!

I've chosen Sophos over others but...guys I really think I've made a huge mistake.
Lucky me I haven't sold any to my customers yet. I definitely have to find another product for them.

  • I am simply using own Zones for this purpose.

Simply name a Zone "Phones", attach the Interface / VLAN to zone Phones and this should be fine in most cases.

  • Luca thanks for the idea! But...it's an interface comment people are asking for. And people shouldn't even ask for it!

Do developers at Sophos know that they've been laughed at?

  • Interface Comment is not quite important in my point of view. Most likely the zone approach is better in my point of view. Simply naming everything properly.

Most likely you do not use the Interface Object at all in XG.
