multicast routing process fails when disabled

Hi,

I was trying out multicast routing to see if I could assist in another thread. I enabled multicast routing in the routing tab, not a problem. I currently do not have any devices using multicast so it was just an experiment to see what happened.

When you disable multicast routing process SMRD stops and causes the service indicator in the GUI to go orange. There are two ways to return the services indicator to greenI suspect, one is a reboot and the other is to enable multicast routing.

To me this looks like a bug, If I have disabled a process it should not be bringing up alarms.

  • Hello,

When you need to enable Multicast Routing, You need to enable "Dynamic Routing" from Administration > Device Access first. Can you check this.

yes that has been enabled fro some time, a long time before I started experimenting with multicast routing.

I think you have missed the issue, the process SMRD dies and causes the services widget in the GUI to go orange the you disable multicast routing in networking -> routing. If you have already disabled the function and then hit apply you get another message advising multicast routing is now disabled when it was never enabled.

The process should never die and cause the GUI widget to go orange.
