Connecting and Configuring Sophos AP 55 with XG 135

Hello All,

I am new to Firewall setup.

I have the following setup

XG firewall 135 WAN interface connected to Internet having static public IP address and LAN interface connected to switch(192.168.5.1) as an internal GW

All Local Users are connected to the switch and getting IP address in the range (192.168.5.X) from an internal DHCP server

Now i want to connect and configure sophos AP 55, which has only one LAN PoE interface. I want wireless users connecting to this Ap 55 to have the same IP range i.e. (192.168.5.X)

My question is where this interface(AP PoE) will connect to? to one of the LAN ports of the XG 135 firewall? If yes then how it will get the IP address? as there is no DHCP on the firewall.

please guide. thanks in advance

  • Hi

Yes, you can either connect the AP directly to the XG (configure DHCP relay for this port) or connect it to your switch.

After obtaining an IP address, the AP will connect to the magic IP (1.2.3.4) of the firewall on port 2712 by sending this to it's default gateway (your firewall).

Check out this KBA for reference on the AP registration process.

    Hope that helps!
