Installing updates

I'm new to Sophos. We recently installed a new Sophos 430 XG firewall. I received a notice to install a new firmware update. I logged in last night and click the notice to allow the update. The firmware is now on the latest version but I noticed under pattern updates that I have 2 updates ready to install. They are for a RED update and an AP update. We don't have any other Sophos devices on our network. Do i need to install these or are they just listed in case I need them in the future?

Regards,

DJ

  • I feel like this is a "at your own discretion" thing, however it is always best practice to upgrade firmware once it is stable, especially if you are subject to any compliance.  Even though you are not using other Sophos devices a vulnerability could exist in out dated firmware that could be exploited down the road.  Honestly for something that will require a quick reboot, I'd install it.
