Install says "Cleaning NVRAMERROR: Unable to clean NVRAM"

I downloaded and installed SW-SFOS_15.01.0-376.iso on a VM successfully.  I then tried to install it on a bare-metal machine via a USB stick but didn't get very far.

I got a detected appliance model message of SF01V_SO01.  When I said yes to continue, the first error message says:

Cleaning NVRAMERROR: Unable to clean NVRAM
press y to reboot

That's all that ever happens.  Rebooting just gets me back in the same place.  Is there any way to force past the error?  Is the software detecting some type of appliance instead of a PC and therefore thinks it can clear some type of NVRAM on the suspected device?  Actually I just checked on the VM and it detects the same device, so I don't think that's the problem.

Any way to get this installed?

  • Hi All,

I have tried the install and it gave me the error. Basically it is due to boot from USB stick as the SFOS is treating the USB disk as the main partition and unable to clean the NVRAM because the partition on that disk becomes readonly.

I could overcome this message by installing from a CD/DVD. I burned the ISO directly onto a disk and booted by machine from the disk drive, it worked like a charm!
