Unable to FTP due to SIZE subcommand not valid

The Point is, you are using FTP Passive, so basically you need a FTP Helper to open the ports.

XG is a Stateful firewall. So basically you need a Helper. 

This helper is installed in FTP scanning feature. But FTP Scanning is only possible in LAN to WAN. 

Maybe Michael Dunn Knows how to setup the FTP Helper properly in WAN to LAN.

We have a simular setup with passiv ftp and also using a non standard FTP port. For us to get it up and running was to login to the firewall using SSH, select option 4 and change FTP Bounce Protection from Control to Data. After that everything started to work as expected.

set advanced-firewall ftpbounce-prevention data

Remeber that the passive ports also have to be in the inbound rule and the have to be set on your FTP server.

Thanks for the suggestions.  It did not fix it, but it got me looking in the right direction.  Utimately I found it was LAN to WAN tranfser.  I found I was able to edit the rule to uncheck scan FTP for malware.   That is what I suspected, I just couldn't find the setting.  (Of course I was looking at incoming rules instead of outgoing rules, too.)
