Is it possible to pass a USB cellular modem to a virtual appliance?

Stupid question but did you reboot the XG when you added it?

And have you got the USB passthrough method as ehci or xhci? Sometimes the XG doesn't like xhci (USB 3.0) if the item plugged in is ehci type.

I did reboot it (and at the same time did the 17.5 upgrade) I checked it after the reboot and it said no modem connected.

That was a couple of days ago - I've just checked it again now, and now the modem is showing as attached.

My thoughts exactly!

It now works perfectly.....

I'll try it again with an newer 4G dongle at some point (as the one I've put in is a E173 (3G) for testing) and see if that takes a while to appear.
