Search Engine keyword filter

Hi Everyone,

We used to have Sophos Web Appliance which would send email alerts if someone had searched for a keyword.  We now have an XG 650 firewall with the web filter built in.  Is there a way to set up the firewall to have email alerts on web search terms. Also I would like to have custom lists to compare the search terms against.   This was very easy to setup on the Web Appliance but seems to be completely different on the XG.  The way the old Web Appliance was set up had different AD groups going to different policies and then a default policy to catch anyone outside of these.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank-you,

  • Hi Craig,

There is no functionality on the XG to send extra notifications for its subsystems other than VPN, Gateway and HA status.

To do this, you would have to push out the log data via Syslog to a digester or SIEM to then notify based on these actions. Webspy has a great integration with the XG for Web Filtering but I do not think they have notifications for Web Content Control hits.

Sorry that's not the answer you wanted!

  • Hi Emile,

Thank you so much for the reply. Thought I might be missing something obvious. I will take a look at Webspy.
