Some USB NICs may be visible and usable, some may not. Most that are based off a Intel or Broadcom USB to Ethernet should be ok but Sophos will not validate a third party USB NIC for any of their Software appliances.
Additionally, Sophos Home is just a license, the fact it is home does not restrict or prevent you from doing anything more than if you were in an Enterprise environment :)
