IPTV Multicast traffic from WAN to LAN

Hi,

I browsed through this community forum but haven't found a working solution.

My ISP provides IPTV through multicast rtp streams. Being directly connected to the ISP's router all is going fine.

But being behind the SG Firewall nothing happens. I enabled the multicast forwarder feature in the Web UI.

WAN: The ISP streams originate from 239.186.x.x:10000

LAN: My receiving client is at 172.16.1.1 (PC with VLC, directly connected to the XG's LAN interface)

Currently only the default firewall policy is active (allow any LAN to any WAN).

Interestingly, the XG's Log Viewer does not show any dropping packets. Shouldn't be there something? Either something about UDP port 10000 or something about IGMP?

I tried to add multicast routes, I tried to allow IGMP traffic and also udp port 10000 in both direction.

Maybe someone can guide me which rules and multicast routes are required to watch IPTV.

Or where to loock at to get propper log messages.

Thank you very much.

Cheers Danny

  • Do you refer to Telekom (Germany) Entertain?

As far as i know, XG does not support any IGMPv3 Proxy.

But i could not try to resolve this, because i do not have such a ISP connection.

You could try to create a default drop rule to see the dropping traffic. https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/133310

Then you should try to create any kind of DNAT rule to direct it to your TV. Maybe this works.
