Cant access wired brother printer from the Wireless AP

I am setting up my network at work. we have the access points working however we can not access the wired printer that is on the network. It has a static IP set up outside the DHCP range. I had tried to set up on the wireless AP the same way. that worked but some of the computers would see it and then lose it and say the printer was offline, but some at the same time others would be able to use it.

The printer shows the correct IP and using advanced IP scanner it finds the static IP just fine. but adding the printer in windows it is no where to be found even when I search by the IP?

Thoughts?

  • if some users in the same subnet are able to access the printer and assuming that they are connected the same way and no firewall rule is specifically blocking access it would look like there's a windows firewall rule blocking the printer. If not, do a packet capture for the printer from diagnostics and it should give us a clue on whats happening
