How to deal with Exchange Server Online?

Hi,

We think about moving to Exchange Server Online as Exchange Server 2019 has to be set up with 128 GB RAM and Microsoft is heading for large enterprises as customer.

I wonder how to deal with some XG features we currently use when moving to Exchange Online. I guess email settings and functions are completely unusable then? No spam filter functions, no email logs, no email encryption? Do I probably have to buy them as additional feature on Exchange Online?

  • I am not quite the Exchange online expert but i can tell you, what you can do.

XG uses some kind of Hostbased Relay. Which relies on an IP/FQDN.

So if the exchange online server uses the Same IP for inbound and outbound, you still can use XG as a MTA.

You would simply point the MX record to XG, xg will scan the mail and forward it to the Exchange online server. Outbound would the XG works as some kind of Smarthost for the Exchange online server.

But to be honest, most of my customers moves to Central EMail in this Scenario.

Maybe somebody with insights in Exchange Online can comment about above.
