  • I get running Sophos XG on a ASG120 rev.4 :)
  • Hi Nemo, Please can you advise how you managed to get this working.
    Many thanks..
  • I Have tried on my SG105 and it's of course not working. I tried unplugging the ssd disk to see if there's something on the harddrive telling the installer that it's an appliance. I have tried looking in the BIOS to see if the serial number from the label on the bottom is in there somewhere, but it seems like it's not. I can't find it anyways.

I have tried installing the old Copernicus Beta 2 to see if i could use my home license with that, but it's reading my serial number from somewhere and won't allow me to change it..

The last discovery i did is that the bootloader isn't installed on the ssd disk.. I got the choose firmware prompt and starting firmware 15.0.XX when the ssd disk was wiped by dd. It did of course not start since the disk was cleared, but it tried.. So that must indicate that the bootloader is installed somewhere else.

  • So presently you have a non functioning 105?

Is there by change not a hidden partition you are not seeing with the bootloader or can you get to the bootloader without the drive plugged?

  • So you have a non functioning 105 presently?
Is it possible a hidden partition has been created on the drive that you are not seeing?
  • So you have a 105 that is basically a brick until you can figure out how to reload?

Is it possible a hidden partition has been created on the drive that you are not seeing? Have you tried a different disk?

  • No i installed SFOS again using the Hardware iso, so it's up and running again. My trial has expired so I might have to migrate my UTM9 license (there's only 6months left anyway).. Hmm i don't think there's a hidden partition since it could start the firmware loader with an unplugged harddrive.. There must be some kind of little storage partition in there.

  • I got it installed and working on my SG115 and once I get to my serial number I can change it to the home serial sent by Sophos but I get an activation error. I'm guessing because activation calls home every time we are pretty much screwed on this home on Hardware stuff, where with UTM I don't think it was calling home to see if the license is valid and for what.
  • Where can we get SW-SFOS_15.01.0-376.iso now that Sophos has removed images from their FTP site?  The newest revision throws errors on SG hardware saying to use the HW version.

  • If you first reinstall the SG HW device with a SG HW ISO and then configure it to just be able to reach the console, you can then rename or remove the file: /etc/asg  and right after that it is possible to overwrite the device with SW version of XG (version 16)

  • By version 16 the software version of SFOS is now possible to install on SG/XG Hardware(I guess it's only on the smaller appliances, I can install the SW version on my SG105, but not on my SG125)

Deleting the asg file in UTM9 has no influence since the harddrive is being formatted during SFOS installation.

  • I just did the same on a SG105. First time it wouldn't install because appliance found. I then deleted /etc/asg and could then overwrite with SW XG 16.
