User Sync ID in v17.5

Hey guys

 

Anyone got any feedback on Synchronised User ID that was released in v17.5?

 

I am not a fan of STAS and its issues and saw this. I don't have v17.5 yet and I don't use Sophos on my Endpoints.

Anyone tried it and does it work well?

    You need Sophos Central Endpoint to get Sync User ID. 

    It relies on the Endpoint.

    If you want to replace STAS and do not have the Endpoint, go to SSO Client. It basically do the same without the endpoint.

    Installed 17.5 yesterday and enabled administration via Sophos Central this morning as we have Sophos running on our endpoints. Unfortunately I can't see a corresponding admin page in Sophos Central for firewall administration.

    Currently I can't see any User IDs in our XG so I'm not sure how or when it works. Maybe Sophos Central still isn't ready for this?

    You need the Endpoint Client 2.20. 

    Check your Authentication Log in XG, maybe you see failed HB authentication attempts.

    Thanks... Log is full of HB authentication failures due to wrong credentials?!?

    Core agent 2.1.4 installed. So how do I get 2.2.0???

    Check your Authentication Server on XG. Seems like the Domain or something is not correct. 

    You can install 2.20 Beta if you participate on EDR Beta.

    Thanks. It's only because of the Endpoint version. After participating in the EDR beta program and adding the computers to it, Endpoint version 2.2.1 was installed and the users where successfully authenticated against AD. No changes at the authentication server settings.

    Had a minor issue with the beta version of Sophos Endpoint which is needed. All computers need one or more restarts after the beta version has been deployed. Without the restart one of our applications didn't work anymore.

    I didn't deploy the beta to all computers but those which have been updated report to our XG. I can see Live Users and Live Connections with corresponding users. I don't see permanent logins and logouts like we had with STAS. Seems this is the solution we needed to get rid of STAS which gave us headache during the last weeks.

    Anyone know about user sync when you don't have AD or RADIUS? We're a mac only shop so AD is out of the question as its overkill for mac users. I was really hoping it would just tell me who was logged in via the Sophos AV and the local user account.
