captive portal not authenticating for wireless devices to unknown user

Please i need a technical specialist to help me out on this. i am using sophos XG firewall and after the whole configuration everything seems working fine but i realized something was going otherwise. when i use LAN cable to connect directly to desktop or laptop, it will prompt captive portal but once you connect the LAN directly to the router. just give it few minutes and connect, you will realize that every wireless devices will connect automatically. please i need someone out there to help me out on this in case i'm doing something wrong or missing things here. especially google chrome and androids

    Why do you not use the Hotspot feature in XG? 

    And i do not understand the part "once you connect the LAN directly to the router. just give it few minutes and connect, you will realize that every wireless devices will connect automatically."

    i am so sorry about my explanation. once you connect to LAN through cable to the router, captive portal will pop up but once you connect to the wireless of the router, every android device or chrome connects automatically. i realized that the router is bypassing captive portal when you connect directly. but i have been able to solved it. but if i may ask, is it wrong to connect the Sophos XG firewall to router directly using this setting on the router

    DHCP from sophos XG firewall - 172.16.16.30 - 172.16.16.250

    Internet port on router (Using static/DHCP) - 172.16.16.31

    DHCP on router 192.168.0.10-192.168.0.250

    with these settings, i realized captive portal will and after like an hour, you can surf online without login in. so what i did was to disable the DHCP on the router and then plug the LAN from sophos to LAN port on the router and everything works perfectly. i actually wanted to try the step without connecting sophos XG to switch directly.

    If i understand correctly, you are forcing the Client to perform some kind of asymmetric routing.
