What is Content filering in the WEB?

Hi Team,

I am little bit confused on the "Content filtering" option under the Web. What is this and how is it helpful for us? I tried to apply in the policy but I cann't select any HTTPS action. If you have a knowledge please explain.

  • Hi Deepak,

you are referring to the country based ethnic settings I assume. If so you will need to create a file which for the format you will have to search the KBA. As an example the UTM has a similar function but does allow for it to be configured.

These files are used in the email scanning,  email tab -> data control list as well.

Sorry, I misunderstood your question. I have experimented with the content filtering in the web -> add policy and you cannot change the setting for https it is locked. You cannot tell whether the https is locked on or off.

I need some guide on this topic. How will I know that what action is taken by Sophos?

  • Hi Deepak

I think from memory the application only works on outgoing in mail. If you are in one of the countries with the inbuilt rule you could try sending a mail message with a key item in it or maybe adding information to a web page. This assumes you have https scanning enabled?

A mod looking at this thread might be able to throw more light on the subject.
