Sophos XG HOME update SFOS 17.1.3 MR-3 crash

Hi

I've noticed a number of times since the update to SFOS 17.1.3 MR-3, a crash.

I'm running XG home on an old desktop with 8GB shown in bios and a 120GB.  XG see's 5959.56 MB max.  Checking the bois shows no thrermal or hardware issue that would cause the outtage so I think its a system freeze of some sort.

Looking at the disagnistics reports you can see the dip abount 10.10am and I have to physically reboot as im unable to connect to the web interface or cli.  Memory looks ok, disk and cpu.

On reboot, an integrity check its done which last about 3mins before being able to access web interface.

I can see from the syslog.log, everything seems good around 09:00:01 apart from a user_err app dev.

Around 09:34:22 local0.info is saving chached data to disk and updating containers.

At 09:53:43 it looks like its rebooting, busy box starts, bios is porbed, devices set up etc.

I can't see what caused the reboot in the syslog.log file, is there any where esle i could look to see what happened.

Regards

Malcolm

  • Hi  rfcat_vk

It was my initial thought but ctipd was failing before the services and firewall was ready. As soon as the policy loaded, it connected and updated the cache successfully.

Will check.. I have a spare SSD and cables.  I also noticed from the logs that the raid controller loaded so i can change controller..

If it is a hardware issue, I'd expect the same behaviour in 17.1.2 MR-2. i'll roll back tomorrow.

The crash happen roughly every 48hrs...

    Regard

    Malcolm
