google enforce safe search options

Hi

The options under Search Engine Enforcement are active. it works fine. but it is rare, time, video, computer, web browser and youtube can be opened as restricted mode without the client being certain. For the customer the subject of the complaint is annoying to me. want to solve permanently. I have a single fixed ip for google safe search and as all country google domain names are providing safe search with this ip. google all country domain names from this ip address to force the exit / routing rule, restriction or you can do anything on behalf of what you say. this can be done by adding to the host file on windows computers.

216.239.38.120 www.google.ca      #forcesafesearch
216,239.38.120 www.google.ad     #forcesafesearch
......
How can we implement this in xg firewall? The system safe search option will be disabled but google will be opened from the above ip.

  • You can do this by adding these as host entries under Configure > Network > DNS and add a dns host entry for each of the hosts you have listed.

Alternatively you turn on the Enforce Safe Search option under Protect > Web > General Settings but if you do this you need a DNS host entry for restrict.youtube.com on the XG to point at one of the "normal" Youtube IP addresses otherwise you'll get restricted mode Youtube access and no one likes that.

  • 16.5 and prior: Web > General Settings > Enforce SafeSearch will use header method for enforce safesearch (requires HTTPS scanning)

17.0 and 17.1: Web > General Settings > Enforce SafeSearch will use DNS method for enforce safesearch and youtube restricted mode

17.5: Web > Policies > Advanced Settings Enforce SafeSearch and Enforce YouTube configured separately, per policy, and with different levels

Note that SafeSearch use DNS method to enforce in Google, Bing, and YouTube with no HTTPS scanning.  It is also enforced in Yahoo, but they do not support a DNS method so it can only be enforced if you have HTTPS scanning on.
