Vmware - Change network cards afterwards?

Hi All,

Been using the Sophos XG for almost a year now. (installed on ESX 6.5, home use)

Internet works fine and is fast, the only issue i have is microlag in online gaming. Sophos XG is connected to a ConnectBox from Ziggo.

When i installed the appliance i was not aware of the default E1000 network cards. Vmxnet3 should peform better.

Is this the way to go or does it breaks my Sophos XG?

Another option would be a new machine with the right settings, afterwards restore a backup.

Is it possible to register 2 applicances with one serial number?
