Sophos XG 17.5 ... Some were at Sophos Discover Conference 2018 ...

...  And they were VERY exited to be informed about not much new coming, not much new at all, plus not much new to learn for the upcoming XG v17.5.  They were also exited to learn UTM is dead, but not dead.  Go figure.  I wish I could be happy for that, but also be happy with so little in my life in general.

Some reading for those who wants to learn what drink or food they had at Discover 2018 : https://www.avanet.com/en/blog/sophos-discover-conference-2018-news-from-kings-landing/

In a nutshell:  If you do not buy Intercept X, you're naked.  And future version of XG will be based on the Ubuntu distro.  One last: XG 2018 will be available most probably in 2020.

Enjoy :)

  • I did read it. I was pointing out the irony for those that didn't know about ubuntu. I have moved on from sophos but it is a good product for home use. They will keep promising the moon as they have since v15 of XG but sadly won't/can't deliver. Intercept X was an acquisition like UTM (astaro) was so innovation was already done, all they had to do was incorporate and even that has been an uphill battle.
