XG AP firmware upgrade completed v11.0.005

Hi folks,

this morning my time a new version of the AP firmware appeared on myXG.

I cannot see any changes to my wifi configuration for any of the SSIDs.

Warning, when you first install the update the 5ghz channel shows initial connection sped go 6mb/s but after a couple of minutes it restores to the 24mb/s. Ramp speed appears display in the XG GUI appears to be just as slow. Eventually the GUI does show a high speed connection.

The only observation  is the the network connections through the AP appear to be slower to update eg the XG GUI takes longer to refresh, pages take a little while longer to load. Otherwise all seems okay as a home user. Maybe the 5ghz channel is faster to start, but without rebooting the entire box it is difficult to determine.

  • Hi folks,

be careful with new firmware. I am finding that tonight I cannot stream sd/hd videos without buffering the 5ghz SSID.

The wireless tab shows the connection speed as varying from 24mb/s to 300mb/s but is too slow to determine what is going wrong. While streaming the connection speed should be around 300mb/s or more.

I did not have this streaming issue before the upgrade. Very frustrating. My internet link is 100/40 tested during the streaming and was around 100/33.

Further testing of this will have to wait until I can access facebook on my wife's MAC, I am not putting facebook on my MAC.

Interestingly both iPhones now ramp up to over 500mb/s very quickly and down again, I assume during mail checks bu the iPad stays on 24mb/s while streaming.

Update, found the cause of why the wifi was buffering but not the same site on a LAN connection, for some unknown reason to me the UDP DOS protection was dropping packets.
