Dual WAN

Hi

I have an APU2C4 running XG currently handling my 200/20 Mbit FTTP. 

I have a 2nd FTTP connection with a static IP that I run various business related stuff on a 40/10 Mbit connection. This is running through UTM 9 on VMware ESXi. This connection doesn't have much throughput although it does have and exchange server running off of it.

I've had a few issues with the VMware server recently so I'm considering moving the 2nd FTTP to the APU and therefore XG. 

When I looked at this before I couldn't figure out how to have the 2nd connection as a separate WAN link - are there any guides?

I searched, but either my search skills are rubbish or there's nothing that answers my specific question.

    Hi,

    it is very simple, you plug the network cable into a port then create a WAN interface using that port. Or you can create the WAN interface before plugging the cable in. The addressing can be dynamic or static it is up to you at creation time.

    From there you can use load balancing or create firewall rules that send traffic out specific ports.

    Ok. I've created the WAN a while ago and as you say that was easy. 

    Where my knowledge has a hole is the next step - the firewall / routing piece. Up until now my use of XG and UTM have been pretty straightforward and I sure that once I understand this bit, it will become straightforward as well. 

    Lets say that my network is 192.168.1.0/24

    My XG device is one gateway at 192.168.1.1

    My UTM device is another at 192.168.1.2

    I have 3 servers .20, .25 and ,30 that have .2 as the gateway.

    Everything else has .1 as the gateway.

    If I remove the UTM and add the 2nd WAN to XG, I'll have one gateway - .1

    The question I have is how do I send traffic from .20, .25 and .30 to the right WAN and from the WAN to .20, .25 and .30?

    Hi Paul,

    In your firewall rules you point at the gateway address you want to sent the traffic out. Use outbound address and select the WAN link in the primary gateway field.

    You will  need to setup a DNAT rule for each server.

    To add to what Ian mentioned above,

    Here's the KB article regarding how to utilize your 2nd WAN link for your internal servers.

    I've included a screenshot below to provide visual context on where to select the gateway (outbound) on the firewall rule to forward traffic out to your other WAN link.

    Thank you all for your help. This all makes sense, at least reading it here :) 

    I'm not able to mess around now until the weekend but hopefully this'll will get me started in the right direction :)
