Integrate Sophos XG into existing Unifi network

I currently have a Unifi network consisting of the following setup:

ISP Fibre ONT > USG WAN > USG LAN > Unifi Switch

I have built a HyperV VM with Sophos XG and looking at some advice to integrate it. I am hoping to have it after my Unifi USG.

I am hoping for the following

ISP Fibre ONT > USG WAN  >USG LAN > HyperV Host Ext > vSwitch_WAN > Sophos XG Ext > Sophos XG Int > vSwitch0_LAN > HyperV Host Int > UniFi Switch

 

What mode/config do I need to put the Sophos XG into to achieve this?

    Hi Carl,

    you would use the bridge mode for the XG.

    I am assuming this is a business installation and would recommend you ask your reseller/reseller for some hours to assist with the configuration?

    You haven't provided much in the way of network information just a simple network sketch.

    Why do you feel the need to put the XG in the middle of your Unifi network, what are you trying to achieve?

    How are you planning on configuring the XG, ports, ram, CPUs, services?

    Hi Ian,

    Thanks for the reply.

    I should have mentioned, this is XG Home.

     

    I’m mostly seeking advice as to the best place to put XG into my current Unifi network. I’m hoping to continue to use my Unifi Gateway to connect to the internet and the XG Firewall for web filtering and reporting.

    Hi Carl,

    I have had a quick look at the USG at it appears to be nothing more than a sophisticated home router. There does not appear to be any added value by having the USG in front of the XG for home use. If you are using the VoIP function of the USG you could but that on the inside of your network. 

    The XG will give you a larger range of functions including all those shown for the USG and improve your home security as well as simplify your network.
