How to set correctly a name for the device (sophos xg) instead of an IP for Captive Portal

Hi, Good day, i have choosen a device name for my sophos xg firewall (administration>Admin Settings>Host Name: sophos.cedes) but i can't ping to it, it doesnt work also when i go to https://sophos.cedes:4444 for the admin panel or https://sophos.cedes:8090 for cative portal but it works with the ip (192.168.110.3). Does anybody have any advice? thanks.

Hi,

I suspect you have to register it in the DNS as well so the name is advertised.

Refer bellow link to redirect Captive portal to host name.

Make sure you configure DNS and run the bellow command from console.

set http_proxy proxy_url_use_hostname on

Hi buddie, thanks for your help. I have done what the link says, but i can't ping or enter to the URL (device name) in my case https://sophos.cedes (or any other name i choose, could be any, i dont have domain), any idea?
