How to change ports numbers from console?

Just installed XG and registered my serial number using my port2 , then it asked me what port I wanted to use for my protected devices, I said port3. Now I can't connect to the webgui, my windows computer says cable is unplugged no matter what port I plug it into. I would think the command line would be how to do it.

Is there a limit on the number of LAN ports for home users? I have 5 ethernet ports and wanted to just plug my Sophos AP directly into the computer. It seems unsecure to have the LAN port be the same as management if at all possible.

Thank you.

  • Hi,

There is no limit to the number of ports for home users.

The limits for home users are

    1/. CPU 4 cores

    2/. RAM 6gb.

You can remove access to the management functions while still connecting your AP to the same LAN in the ACL lists.

Using another port just for management functions means you need another PC/MAC/Android sitting on your management network all the time, bit of a waste and for a home user an overkill.

If an intruder is smart enough to crack access to your wifi what is to stop them continuing on and cracking a LAN network device to access your management GUI. Further they then have to crack your XG management password. if 'it' gets into your network, your XG security is the least of your worries.

A little bit more information, you cannot access the console until you have created a password in the GUI.
