Hi,
What IP address does your PC get when connected tot he XG?
What you have posted would indicate you are connected to the wrong interface eg you need to change to another port on your XG. The 172.16.16.16 in the internal address, not the eternal address.
Ian
When you first install XG it will look for a 2 active ports, one internal 172.16.16.16 with DHCP enabled if you ticked the box and one external looking for a DHCP response to provide it with an address. This is the port your XG will contact the registration server on.
To connect to the XG GUI you need to be connected to the internal interface using a 17.16.16.x address.

Hi,
you need a standalone PC, with a a minimum of two NICs, a not very powerful CPU, but preferable with 4 real cores and 4 to 6gb of ram and about 60gb of disk (which will be totally wiped). A CD reader preferable removable because any updates will be downloaded over the web.
You boot using the CD and the software (via the console) will ask some questions then start the install process which can take about 5 minutes and not always show progress. At completion remove the CD (boot/install disk) restart the device and connect your PC to the internal port, in practice you connect your PC before starting so the install software can see an active interface.
You log into the internal interface using https://172.16.16.16:4444/ and follow the prompts. Accept the basic install process as that will get you an internet connection.
Somewhere in these forums there is a detailed posting about installing XG with from shred. At the bottom of the first post in the link below is the location of shred's help document.

Sophos firewall compared to windows firewall which is the best in all means ?
you are comparing a Tesla with a bicycle. Both can get you to your destination but XG has more than only packet filter like windows firewall.
A firewall offers you most of the times only Packet filtering / stateful firewall.
XG firewall is a UTM solution.
www.routexp.com/.../difference-stateful-firewall-vs-ngfw-vs.html
Once installed on the pc will it take the place of windows firewall just like comodo firewall does for example ?
I have only one pc can I proceed and install or do I have do this on another computer ?
thank you
XG / UTM Firewalls are "Appliances". So basically some kind of Box you can buy or install on a own PC, which act as some kind of Firewall. It is like your router or fritzbox.
Comodo and Windows Firewalls are firewalls on the desktop (Windows etc.) itself.
Sophos offers for this a other solution. https://home.sophos.com
It is a client for your windows desktop client. XG is not what you are looking for.
