physical interface not "seen"

Hello guys,

I have just installed Sophos XG firewall for home use. My hardware is Asrock H270M-ITX/ac motherboard with a Intel Pro 1000 VT quad gigabit pord card. That is 2 gigabit ports from within the MB itself and 4 gigabit ports from the Intel NIC - a total of 6 ports. And besides this i also have a wlan interface, but this is out of scope.

The problem as i see, is that Sophos recognises only 5 gigabit ports out of 6:

This build is completelly new so i had to check it with other OS to see another perspective. I booted from a linux stick and this one sees all the correct 6 physical gigabit interfaces:

So why Sophos doesn't see all the ports and how can i get it see all the ports?

Thanks

  • Hi,

you are correct the 219 is not supported by XG and will not be. It is considered a home use chip only and not suitable for commercial grade security systems.

I would have thought 5 active ports should be plenty for a home user?

  • Hi,

Yes, 5 active ports are enough. Even 2 are ok for a home user, but the scope was to understand the compatibility issues. Now it is clear.

    Thanks

  • Hey,

I have 4 and the maximum used was 3. I had plans for the other but I am down to 1 ISP connection.  VLANs at home are also good unless you have an external connection that runs a 1gb?
