How are the 2 GbE SFP Fiber Ports Used?

I have an XG210 which has 2 GbE SFP ports built-in. I want to use one of these as my "LAN" interface connected to the switch. I can configure the IP settings for the interface but connecting it to the switch via an SFP cable (this one) the interface just says "unplugged". I don't know if this is due to misconfiguration or incompatibility, but since this is a live environment, I wanted to ask before I start changing settings.

  • I didn't realize that my switch has both SFP and SFP+ ports and I had it plugged into the SFP+ port. After switching to the standard SFP port on the switch, the XG immediately activated the link. It appears either the XG210 does not support SFP+ or the cable I'm using isn't compatible. At any rate, I now have a connection over standard SFP which is sufficient for my needs.
