Real-time monitoring for Ops wall

Hi

We are setting up a monitoring wall of displays which show us important stats about the network/systems. One thing we want to keep an eye on is real-time bandwidth use, I can achieve this through SSH using iftop and bwmon.

I was wondering... Has anyone had any success setting up monitoring full-time?

In my last firm they had screens with raspberry pi's strapped to the back, each PI ran a web browser which just refreshed a single page all day long. I am looking for a way to show the stats from BWMON and IFTOP all of the time but I don't really want to leave an SSH session open 24/7.

Thanks

  • I was actually thinking about this today with the Sophos Central logs, If somehow we could make it run real time events, like show Alerts in real time, bandwidth in real time ( without having to do it within the firewall ) or even audit logs, It would be a great feature, but no idea if they will ever implement it or if someone figures out a way to make it auto refresh every second.

  • SNMP NMS systems will update real-time if you want, Nagios, Zabbix Solarwinds etc... are all good NMS, I have used all except nagios, but a supplier uses that so have never needed.
