v17.1.2 MR2 Release Notes

I see the MR2 has just been released.

Any idea what this was about:

  • NC-29963 [Firewall] Appliance rebooting with kernel dump

I might give it a week or so before updating to see if anyone has issues before making them mine :-(

  • Hi Ian,

something broke my IPv6 setup. Firewall rules are passing traffic, but the test site says I don't have an IPv6 address assigned.

There is an issue with DHCPv6 and MAC address I can tell you that one.

Otherwise passing traffic okay at this stage.

  • Good morning all,

Looks like the IPv6 testing software is broken, keeps giving errors. Used a variety of other testing sites and all appears okay. A frustrating day.

Differences in MR2, the interface icon on the dashboard has changed to in my case an orange "I", my IPv6 link is showing down status, but working okay. When the dashboard screen is open the CPU load increases significantly from 2% to 16%, but if I go to another tab, the cpu load drops. Other than the above I cannot see any changes, but will wait until tomorrow's daily reports for further comment.

  • Had some issues with my PPPoE connection after upgrade (It did not reconnect automatically). Anybody else?

  • Hi Huber,

that has been a complaint for a number of releases, but usually after a link failure. Not having g a PPPoE service anymore I can't do any testing.

  • No my PPPoE was fine - came right back after reboot into MR2

Not related to PPPoE but I can no longer see Apps working though since MR1 I think:

  • Hi Ian,

mine has been fine for both releases. Some of those little windows do take a couple of attempts before they will load eg you must go to a different tab then back to the dashboard. Maybe my machine is just a little overloaded when the dashboard is running.

But here is an interesting observation about today and 24 hours.

Some has gone wrong I am missing part of my post functions. Now returned to normal??

  • Mine takes a while to load but does actually get there eventually.

  • Just swapped over from the UTM to XG today, after a while away, and found the experience both enlightening and quick!

took me less than an hour to swap over, the 3 x AP50s that I have in a MESH, S2S VPN , and the only adjustment I had to make was for Netflix exceptions, voila all working..

now I don't have to scroll through pages of Rules, I have them all now on one page, the internet was up in an instant (on PPPoE, way quicker than the last update to UTM)

A couple of issues around responsiveness seem to have been attended to, although I will have to see how it goes.

OK, it is a little tardy when initially booting up (but the XG has always seemed a little slower on boot), other than that no issues noted as of yet... if this keeps on going this way I might have to stay with the XG.. and then get the Company to migrate to XG as well.
