I can't see any difference in these objects. Why are there two different things?

Where did you find DNS Hosts in XG?
There are FQDN Hosts (like DNS host groups on UTM).
Near the bottom of the 'DNS' tab in CONFIGURE>Network.
You mean DNS Host Entry?
Those are DNS objects used by the internal DNS Server of XG (for example you use XG as DNS Server and want to resolve test.local to 1.1.1.1)
FQDN Hosts are for the Config (Exceptions, firewall policies etc.)

in theory you could put all you internal network devices in there if you don't have an internal DNS, but as far as I can tell you would have to create each line manually because there is no way to bulk load this table.
