Sophos XG gets disconnected from internet

 Hi,

I have a Sophos XG firewall in place and it has been working marvelously until last week when we started experiencing internet disconnection issues.

We have two links from our ISP provider,Primary and Secondary. The Secondary has a physical fiber issue so thats not dependable until it's fixed.

For the Primary link,it drops suddenly and takes a while to restore(20-1 hr).The ISP advised to restart their Juniper switch/ our Firewall interfaces(power boot or just removing the LAN cables and connecting back) but sometimes it does not work.

They claim it could be the firewall and we need to check our firewall settings or logs.

Kindly assist to ascertain that it's not the firewall causing this sudden internet dropping issues.

Thanks.

  • Hey

I would advise to run some connectivity tests so that you can investigate further when you start to experience these connection issues.

Are you able to setup an constant extended ping from one of your local clients:

    • to the ISP Modem - (Verify routing between your internal network and your ISP)
    • to somewhere on the internet (8.8.8.8, 4.2.2.1) - (Verify routing from ISP to the specific IP)
    • to a internet domain name - (Verify DNS)

    Regards,
