Hello Sophos Community,
Is anyone using the XG85 with ADSL2+ from Sonic, their Fusion X2 service?
We're stuck with the Pace 5268 modem (as a rental) running in bridged mode and I have had nothing but trouble trying to get the XG setup correctly. Initially the setup went through but the interface/WAN connection indicates an error (red) and DHCP is not providing addresses to the other 3 ports.
Of note, during the initial setup the wizard set ports 1,3 & 4 to 'bridged' mode and I'm not sure if this is how it should be setup. Once configured however, you can't simply disassemble the bridge because you are using port1 as the LAN admin computer connection.
The XG registered correctly and the licenses were activated without any problems.
Here's some additional info on the setup:
ISP: Sonic
Service: ADSL2+ Fusion X2 (1 phone line, 2 data lines)
Modem: Pace 5268
Network: 1 mac, 1 pc, 1 printer, 1 Apple Time Capsule (router/WiFi/Backups)
Pre-XG Implementation:
The Pace 5268 is configured with a static IP, running in "Bridged" mode, with an Apple Time Capsule providing routing for 2 computers, 1 printer, WiFi and Time Machine Backups.
The Recommended Setup I was given by Sonic:
Take the Pace out of Bridged mode, set it to obtain DNS automatically - and setup XG85 with static IP and plug into Pace. Save settings on Pace and reboot XG85.
Note:
Once the Pace is set in "Bridged" mode it no longer registers an internet connection (it only confirms DSL connected). The XG85 is supposed to simply pickup the connection, verify the static IP and run with it.
Thanks!
Rory
